ッsokuon
Katakana — ッ
Character
ッ
Usage Note
A small ッ carries no sound of its own — it doubles the consonant of the syllable right after it, exactly like its hiragana counterpart っ. It shows up constantly in katakana loanwords, since so many borrowed words end in a short, clipped consonant sound.
