Hiragana — づ

Usage Note

Like ぢ, づ sounds identical to ず in modern Japanese. It survives mainly in compound words where it keeps a clear connection to a root word spelled with つ (e.g. 続く tsuzuku, "to continue," related to つづ-). In nearly everything else, ず is used.
