ぢji
Hiragana — ぢ
Character
ぢ
Usage Note
ぢ sounds identical to じ in modern Japanese and is now used in only a small set of words — mainly where it preserves a clear link to a related word that uses ち (e.g. 鼻血 hanaji, "nosebleed," related to 血 chi, "blood"). In almost all other cases, じ is used instead.
Example Words
はなぢ

Nosebleed (はな + ち)
ちぢむ
chijimu
To shrink
みかづき
mikazuki
Crescent moon (related づ word)
